Enter Time Phased Values

Prerequisites

  • System configuration settings determines whether the base Result for labor resources is entered as FTE or hours. It is typically set to hours. You may want to confirm this with your system administrator.
  • Define your work packages for the control accounts with start dates, end dates, and durations. The work package start and end dates determine the time frame for the value details. See Define Work Packages.
  • Assign the labor or non labor resources to the work packages. See Assign Resources. Remember the calculation settings in the resource structure determine the base result for the resource as well as how rates are applied to calculate indirect costs and determine the total cost. Should you encounter instances where indirect costs are not being calculated, verify the assigned resource result calculations have been set. See Set Resource Calculations.

The following steps assume you are using the Standard View Ribbon Menu option to enter base result values.

  1. Select Home > Earned Value in the Navigation Menu. The main EVMax window displays.
  2. Select your project from the Project dropdown in the Ribbon Menu.
  3. Expand the WBS hierarchy as needed to view the work packages.
  4. Select the work package row in the top pane.
  5. Select the Resources tab in the bottom pane. The left pane displays the Budget, Earned, Actuals, and Forecast tabs, the Budget tab is enabled with a list of the resources assigned to the work package.
  6. Select the resource row in the left pane of the Budget tab.
  7. Select the Spreads tab in the right pane of the Budget tab. A table of result rows and calendar month columns displays. The base result row and Total column are highlighted. The calendar month columns to the right of the Total column reflect the work package start and end dates.
  8. In the Total column, click in the base result value cell. Enter the total FTE/hours or direct cost base result value in the cell and press Enter. The Spread Curve dialog box displays.
  9. Click the Use Spread radio button and then select the Spread from the dropdown.

    Tips:

You can select the same spread option you defined for the work package or select another option. If you select another spread option, the work package spread setting is updated to match your selection in the dialog box.

If you selected the Manual spread option, enter the base result value for each calendar month. The Total column is then calculated for you.

  10. Click OK. The result rows and calendar columns are automatically calculated based on the base result value you entered.
  11. Repeat Steps 4 through 10 to enter values for other work packages and assigned resources.
